| Objective To Study the stress distribution of the lower cervical spine in the flexion and extension movement. Methods Five fresh adult human cervical spinal specimens (C2-C7)were chosen as experimental materials, to measure the strain of the C4-C6 in the flexion and extension movement with 2.34N.m loads. Results In the flexion movement, the anterior and middle columns bears the press stress, the posterior column bears pull stress, and anterior column strain is highest (P<0.05); In the extension movement, the anterior column bears pull stress, the middle and posterior column bears press stress and the anterior column stress is highest. (P<0.05). There is no difference in the middle column stress in the flexion and extension movement. The stress of the anterior column is higher in the extension movement than in the flexionmovement and the posterior column is just reverse. To the different segments, the stress of the middle column of C5 is highest in the flexion and the posterior column of C5 is highest in the extension. Conclusion The high part stress of lower cervical spine is relative to the cause of cervical spondylosis. |
