One hundred and nineteen cases of Fallot(TOF) were surgically corrected in LiHuiLi hospital between Mar 1993 to Jun 2003. Adequate corrective procedures were performed in all cases. In these cases, six patients died after corrective surgery for Tetralogy of Fallot. The main complication in these cases was Low Cardiac Output syndrome(LCOS), which occurred in 11 cases (9.2%). These six patients were died all because for LCOS. In these LCOS patients, there were 5 males and 6 females. Their age ranged from 2 years and 6 months to 31 years old. All of them had a typical symptoms and manifestation like cyanosis and clubbing fingers etc. There HB ranged 146 to 227 g/1 (mean 178 ± 40g/L). Only 6 patients died from LCOS postoperatively. The mortality was 9.2%.It was found that the predisposing factors of LCOS after corrective surgery for TOF were serious clinical manifestations of the patients before operation, and residual right ventricular outflowtract obstruction due to improper repair of the right ventricular outflow tract, which were fatal in some cases. The results suggested that the key was to correct the pathology completely and manage the complications properly.
