Effect Of Hyperbaric Oxygen On The Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy Of Neonates And The Changes Of Plasma NSE, MDA

Objective: To investigate the effect of hyperbaric oxygenationon the hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy of neonates and thechanges of plasma NSE, MDA. Methods: Twenty full-term neonates of moderate, severe HIEwere divided into two groups: routine treatment group (group CON)and hyperbaric oxygenation group (group HBO). Sixteen normalfull-term neonates served as control group and twelve full-termneonates of mild HIE compared with these three groups. GroupCON were intervened with the conventional treatment, group HBOwith HBO therapy in addition to the conventional treatment, andboth were followed up for six to twelve months. Neuron-specificenolase (NSE) in plasma was measured by enzyme-linkedimmunosorbent assay (ELISA), and malondialdehyde (MDA) wasmeasured by thiobarbituric acid colorimetry determination.Compared the level of NSE and MDA in plasma with group CONand group HBO, as well as the time of symptom disappeared, themark of neonate behavior nerve assessment (NBNA) anddevelopment quotient (DQ). 4重庆医科大学硕士学位论文 Results: The level of NSE increased significantly beforetherapy both in group CON and group HBO, higher than controlgroup, mild HIE group and the convalescence of moderate, severeHIE group (p<0.05). The level of MDA decreased significantly afterHBO therapy, lower than group HBO before therapy and groupCON after therapy (p<0.05). The time of symptom disappeared andthe mark of NBNA was very different from group CON and groupHBO (p<0.05), but HBO had no significant effect on the mark ofDQ (p>0.05). Conclusions: The therapy of HBO can shorten the time ofsymptom disappear, improve the mark of NBNA, and had reliablecure effect in the near future, it also reduced free radical and lipidperoxidation damage. But HBO can not prove the prognosis of HIEcompared with group CON. NSE is a sensitive, credible guidelineof severe brain hypoxic damage.
