Except for causing the symptom of hypertension itself, long - term hypertension is also the important and dangerous factor of cardio - vascular disease. EH can damage important organs such as heart, brain, kidney et al, and at last make them failure. At present , lots of studies suggested serum NO plays an important role in the occurance and development of EH patients and serum content is also changed with the disease. But till now, the report about NO and NOS contents abnormality in the serum of the patients with EH and IGT is very poor. The aim of the experiment is to study this group of patients with EH, in order to know the speciality of their serum NO and NOS contents.Sample collectingThe patients were all from NO. 1 hospital of Chinese Medical University, the number of EH patients is 108, in which 40 cases with IGT, 36 cases with DM, each group half of men and women, average age 63.0 + 8.7 years old, the above patients are excluded for severe heart failure, arrhythmia, thyroid disease , and renal, hepatic disease, chosed 30 cases as health control group with normal physical and chemical examination average age 63. 8 + 10.2 years.Statistical analysisQuantitative data are expressed as mean value + standard deviation, and analyzed by one - way ANOVA. A value of P < 0. 05 was considered significant.1. Patient' s index is sex name age height weight waist line hip -round. The patients had not taken Nitrates in the recent two weeks. Blood sample was taken before breakfast. BMI = weight/height ( kg/m2) . According to WHO standard in 1994, more than 25 kg/m2 is considered to be over -weight. WHR = waist length/hip - round, male > 0. 9, Female > 0. 8 is abnormal . More than 60 years is belonged to old age group.2. NO nitrate test kit provided by Nanking Juli Biological Technology institute.3. NOS nitrate test kit provided by Nanking Jiancheng Biological Technology institute.ResultsThe serum NO and NOS contents in patients with EH are obviously decreased compared with the control group (P < 0. 001). In the EH group the serum NO and NOS contents in patients with IGT was significantly ( P < 0. 001) decreased , the serum NO and NOS contents in patients with DM was significantly (P < 0.001) decreased compared with patients with IGT.Compared with normal weight patients, in overweight group serum NO and NOS contents were significant ( P < 0. 01).There was no significant difference (P >0.05) between male and female.There was no significant difference (P >0.05) between different ages.There was no significant difference (P > 0. 05) between abnormal WHR group and normal group.DiscussionIn the recent ten years, one of the most distinguish development in the car-dio - vascular field is proving that vascular endothelium performs an important role in the regulation of cardiac circulating function and endo - envirement sta-blization, suggesting that the abnormality of vascular endothelia function may tightly associated with the occurance and development of EH. So the measure of NO, probably have important significance for knowing the relationship betweenendothelia function disorder and EH, also for the prognosis evaluation and prevention of EH.In the patients both with EH and IGT, this two mechanism of hypertension and IGT may act on NOS in the vascular endothelia cells, leading to obviously descending of serum NO contents comparing to the patients with EH but without IGT. Whereas, EH with DM have more effect on the function of vascular endothelia cell, and make more significant descending of NO.In the overweight group of, serum NO and NOS contents are obviously decreased compared with the normal weight group. Overweight is an independent risk factor for EH. It can make endothelial damage through the factors of fat metabolic disorder et al, then effect NOS activity, and lead to serum NO content descending.
