Objective To observe the effect of millimeter wave radiation on experimental renal failure in rabbits and seek a new method of treatment and prevention for the renal failure. Methods 16 rabbits were randomly allocated into three groups(A~C).Treatment group A(n=7),control group B (n=7) and normal control group C (n=2).Group C is only control in histopathology. The experimental rabbits of group A and B were formed the renal failure with gentamycin injection (100mg,I.M)/per day for seven days consecutively. The rabbits of group A were treated with millimeter wave 10 times. Group B was without any treatment. The serum creatine, urinary creatine,BUN,Urine Volume/24h and creatine clearance rate were assayed before test ,third, fifth, seventh, tenth day during test. After experiment, all rabbits were killed for histopathology examination. Results BUN in group A was compared with that of pre-experiment,there was no significant difference (P>0.05), Moreover in group B, BUN at 10th day was significantly higher than that in group A (P<0.05) .Scr in group A at 10th was lower than that of pre-experiment (P<0.05) ,but Scr in group B was significantly higher than that in group B at 1 Oth day( P<0.05) and at 1 Oth day(P<0.01). Urine Volume/24h in group A at 10th day was increased (P<0.05) ,but in group B at 7 th day, it was decreased (P<0.01) compared with pre-experiment. Ccr at 10th day after experiment in group B had presented a obvious changes. On histopathology, in group B, the epithelial cells showed severe degeneration changes in proximal convoluted tubules. Glomerular changes were absent. Even necrosis was found insome proximal convoluted tubules which were composed of cellular debris, whereas in group A, the epithelial cells showed mild degeneration changes in proximal convoluted tubules compared with group B. There was no necrosis. There was no significant difference with histological changes between left kidney and right kidney. Conclusion Millimeter wave can improve renal function and reduce Gentamycin-induced Nephrotoxicity in Rabbits.lt is indicated that the millimeter wave radiation has treatment and prevention for the acute renal failure.
