Objectives: To investigate the effect of hepatic cirrhosis on nerval system in enteric wall of rat and its mechanism by using a cirrhotic rat model. Methods: 30 S-D rats were randomly divided into 2groups:control group 10 and model group 20. The frequency of slow wave and coefficient of variation (CV) were recorded and:analyzed by computer, meanwhile the cholinergic and nitrigic nerves in jejunum myoenteric plexus were observed with histochemical staining.Result: Compared with control group, the frequency of slow wave decreased markedly (P<0.05) in the cirrhosis group, while the CV increased markedly (P<0.05) . With nitric oxide synthase(NOS) and acetylcholinesterase ( AchE ) histochemical staining method, the distribution of myenteric nitrigic and cholinergic nerves was under observation and measured in enteric wall of cirrhosis rats on the stretched preparation. The NOS positive nerves were arranged confused and disorderly, staining clouding and the quantity of nerves were reduced. AchE positive nerves fiber was narrowed significantly. Compared with control group, the density of myenteric nitrigic and cholinergic nerves markedly decreased(P<0.01).Conclusion: The intestines of cirrhosis rats present electric rhythm abnormity, the damage of NOS and Ach positive nerves in enteric wall of cirrhosis rats may be its underlying mechanisms. A variety of experimental approaches have been used to approve patients with hepatic cirrhosis exist the disturbance of kinetics in gastrointestinal tract. In the experiment, we found that intestinal tract in rat with cirhhosis presented the abnormality of electric rhythm disorder and myenteric nerve plexus. Our results indicated that the digestive symptoms tract of patients with hepatic cirhhosis may be related with the impaired enteric nervous systems.
