To study the expression of the phenotype CD1a, CD83, CD40, CD86 on monocyte-derived dendritic cell (DC) from peripheral blood monocyte (PBMC) of atopic asthmatic. It may offer new insight into both the pathogenesis of the asthma and its therapy. Thomas method was used to isolate PBMC that they were from atopic asthmatic and healthy human peripheral blood. Then PBMC were cultured with rhGM-CSF, rhIL-4 and induced the maturation of the dendritic cells by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The expression of the CD1a, CD83, CD40, CD86 on mature DCs were examined by fluorescent activated cell sortor (FACS). The results showed that the expression of the CD86 on DCs from atopic asthmatic was higher than from healthy control subjects (40.75+3.99 VS 29.88+1.25, P<0.001). This result displayed DCs may play an important role in the atopic asthma.
