Objectives To study the clinical value of serum myocardial enzymes in evaluating myocardial injury of asphyxiated newborn. Methods 66 cases of asphyxiated newborns admitted in 2002-2003 were divided into slight asphyxiated group and severe asphyxiated group, and the control group were 28 formal full-term newborns. The activity of serum myocardial enzymes including AST.LDH.CK.CK-MB were respectively examinated and made contrast and analysis. Results Myocardial enzymes of the asphyxiated newborns were increasing according to the severity. Ones of the slight group were higher than the controls(P<0.05), and ones of the severe group were higher than the slight group( P<0.01), both are significantly different. Conclusions CK-MB have high specifity to evaluate the myocardial injury of asphyxiated newborns, the increasing of myocardial enzymes had referrent value judging the myocardial injury of asphyxia newborns.
