Dragon's blood (Xuejie, è¡€ç«) is a precious traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)used as a hemostatic and promoter of blood circulation. There are two species ofDragon's blood, imported and native goods, respectively. Resina Draconis(Longxuejie, 龙血ç«), being native product, has developed into a new drug approvedrecently. But there are some unknown element or uncertainty, such as activeconstituents, the mechanism of pharmacological actions, and quality control (QC)method, etc. It is one of the main targets of this paper to find out the compound with atwo-directional adjusting action, i,e, high hemostatic and anti-thrombosis activities. Five compounds were isolated from the chloroform and butyl alcohol extracts ofResina Draconis, identified as Loureirin A, Loureirin B, 7, 4'–Dihydroxyl flavone,Tilianin, and Agastachoside, respectively. These compounds showed high hemostaticand anti-thrombosis activity. Then, their effects were screened by BORN method andobserved on HUVEC. Several quali & quanti-analysis method were carried out to enrich the QC ofDragon's blood. UV, NIRDRS combined with cluster analysis and convolutiontransform visualization correlation coefficient analysis are used to distinguish ResineDraconis from different sources with improved, accuracy, reliability and speed.. To resolve the problem in the national quality standard about the determination ofthe Loureirin B, we developed a new NP-HPLC method. This method can refrain theinterference of Loureirin A to Loureirin B in their determine. It proves a promisingway for quality control of Resina Draconis.A new TLC compled with digital image processing technique was developed for theassay of Resina Draconis conveniently and reliably, providing an alternativeevaluation method for TCM quality control. A conclusion can be drawn from the above experiment that qualified ResinaDraconis might be a valuable drug for treating apoplexy.
