| Objective: To discuss the superiority of the transpetrosal presigmoid approach for removal of petroclival tumors through analysis of 31 patients. Methods: Clinical and neuroimaging features, operative approaches, results and postoperative management were studied. Results: Total resection was achieved in 10 cases(32.3%), and subtotal resection in 5 cases(16.1%),for presigmoid approach in 15 patients rate of total resection is 53.3%. Rate of postoperative complications for all patients is 61.3%, five patients died. Conclusions: Compared with other traditional approaches, the transpetrosal presigmoid approach can provide better exposure for petroclival tumors. The rate of total resection is higher in presigmoid approach than in others. |
