Objective: To observe the anatomy and variation of cystic artery during laparoscopic cholecystectomy and to prevent bleeding during the operation. Methods: 491 patients with benign cholecystic disease were performed laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The anatomy and management of cystic artery were pictured and preserved in operation. The results were classificated and compared with the former necropsy data. Explore the anatomy and variation of it during the laparoscopic operation.Result: The normal anatomy of the cystic artery accounted for 305, the rate was 57.70%. 178 cases were double branch type , the rate was 36.25%.It has the statistic significance with necropsy. 249 cases of single cystic artery run through the Calot triangle, accounting for 81.64%. 172 cases of double branch type run through the Calot triangle, at least one branch, accounting for 96.63%. It has no statistic significance with necropsy. In the single type, 87 cases belong to the "early branch type", account for 28.52%. The artery of 394 cases run around the Calot lymph node, accounting for 80.24%. All operations were successful. No complication occurred after operation. The operation took 20~120min. The patients in hospital time varied from 3 to 9 days, 4.7 days in average. Conclusion: Statistically analyzing the result correlation between laparoscopic visualization and necropsy on cystic artery anatomy, we can always find most of the cystic artery were single and run around the Calot lymph node. 1/3 of the single type was the "early branch type" and should be clipped separately. Double branch type was common, one of the branches often run through the Calot triangle. Calot lymph node is an important anatomy mark, the cystic artery run near it commonly.
