The general tools to investigate the mechanical properties of bone include experiments and the finite element analysis based on micro-computed tomography (FEAMCT). The results from both methods above are very dispersed and can not represent the mechanical properties of bone though the latter method is more efficient than the former. On the contrary, the finite element analysis based on parameter models has been proved to be promising tools to deal with the dispersancy. In this paper, apparent elastic moduli of cancellous bone at different volume fractal are simulated by parameter models based on morphology and physiology of trabecular bone. At the same time, effects of elastic moduli of trabeculae on apparent elastic moduli of cancellous bone are also analyzed carefully. The apparent elastic moduli of trabecular bone obtained from finite element analysis based on parameter models are similar to those obtained by the experiments and other modeling methods. The more important is that the 2-D parameter models presented in this paper can be used to estimate the rationality of the elastic moduli of trabeculae from different simulations. In this paper, the 2-D parameter model and the objective function of surface remodeling of cancellous bone are presented to simulate the process of surface remodeling using software NASTRAN and FORTRAN. The model has been proved to be suitable for simulating the functional adaptation of cancellous bone under mechanical loads.
