Background and aimAccording to the development of society and the rise of people's living standard, cerebrovascular diseases' incidence rate were rising year by year. Nowdays cerebrovascular diseases are the third cause for death in the whole world, therefore the study in this field has been an important aspect of medical research. Once stroke occurs, it often leads to neurologic deficit which seriously influence the quality of life and even threaten the life of patients. Reperfusion after cerebral ischemia can induce more serious damage than of cerebral ischemia itself. An pathologic phenomenon occurring after the reestablishment of circulation has causative role in this reperfusion, include microvascular endothelial cell swelling , necrosis and dysfuction of synthes izing cytokines by microvascularendothelium. Then the function and integrity of the microvascular are damaged and the normal cerebral blood is not supplied properly, and the normal cerebral function is damaged too. A lot of studies have started to investigate the mechanisims of cerebral ischemic injury. The effects of many therapies are unsatisfying. Qidan Tongmai tablet(QDTMT), a kind of traditional Chinese medicine, was established on the theory of Qi-blood and on the years of clinical experience.Clinical evidence proved that QDTMT showed preventive effects on cerebrovascular diseases,Present study investigated deeply the protective effect of QDTMT on rat cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury from oxygen free radicals and morphologic changes. The purpose of this study was to supply reliable experimental basis for the clinic application of this medicine. MethodsThe establishment of animal model 70 healthy male SD rats, 220~250g, were randomly divided into 7 groups, 10 rats per group: sham operated control ischemia-reperfusion group( control) , cerebral ischemia-reperfusion group (model) , nimodipinegroup( NIMO), Huatuo reconstruction pill group( HTRP), QDTMT low dosage group(QDTMTL) , QDTMT middle dosage group(QDTMTM) , QDTMT high dosage group(QDTMTH). QDTMT groups were given to QDTMT at dose of 0.36 g/ (kg · d),...
