The Analysis Of Risk Factors For Diabetic Foot

Objective To investigate the relations between clinical characteristics, abnormal metabolisms, chronic complications of diabetes mellitus and diabetic foot. Then the risk factors for diabetic foot were analyzed. The protocol for preventing and treating diabetic foot can be done. Methods 27 endocrine unit inpatients with diabetic foot in the second hospital affiliated to Zhejiang University from March, 2000 to December, 2004 and 110 inpatients with diabetes mellitus, but without diabetic foot (randomization) were observed. T-test was used to analyzemeasurement data and were showed by X±S. Chi-square test was used to analyze count data. Multiple stepwise regression analysis was used to analyze the data with difference. The risk factors for diabetic foot, including sex, year, type of diabetes mellitus, the index of body weight (BMI), blood pressure (BP), the duration of hypertension and smoking, free blood glucose(FBG), postprandial blood glucose(PBG), glycated hemoglobin AlC(HbAlc), cholesterol(TC), glyceryl trioleate(TG), high density lipoprotein(HDL-C), low density lipoprotein(LDL-C), serum creatinine(Cr), blood uria nitrogen(BUN), history of cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage and coronary heart disease, diabetic neuropathy, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy, peripheralvascular diseases, were observed.Results The occurrence of diabetic foot was significantly correlatedwith year, HbAlc, history of cerebral infarction, diabetic neuropathy,diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy, peripheral vascular diseases,positively. Multiple stepwise regression analysis show, the occurrenceof diabetic foot was significantly correlated with HbAlc, diabeticneuropathy, diabetic nephropathy, peripheral vascular diseasepositively.Conclusion HbAlc, diabetic neuropathy, diabetic nephropathy,peripheral vascular diseases are the independent risk factors fordiabetic foot.
