Objectivesby studying these cases, we hoped to get a general impression about the complications of endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreatography ( ERCP) . Methodswe retrospectively analyzed 208 cases carried out with ERCP in our hospital ,between July 1st ,2003 to December 31 ,2004 and studied their complications during or after operation. Results199 of 208(95.7%) were successfully completed with ERCP. 13 patients(6.3%) were accompanied with complications, 8 acute pancreatitis and 2 cholangeitis healed with medical treatment; 2 patients with alimentary tract hemorrhage ,one healed with surgical therapy. One patient got perforation and soon carried out with operation, but died of infection. Discussionsrepetitive endoscopic retrograde cannulation of the pancreatic is the most important factor for complication of acute pancreatitis. Controlling the indication strictly. pre-operation drug prevention and nasobiliary drainage after the operation are significant methods to diminish complications.
