| Background and ObjectiveIn recent years, the incidence rate of lung cancer in our country has increased to the first place in malignant tumor. The data show that many lung cancer patients were advanced when they were diagnosed. And have obvious lymph and distant place metastasis. In nearly 50% patient,There is have no chance for operation and the 5 years survival rate is only 30%.Therefore, radiotherapy remain one of the major therapy for lung cancer. Patients who receive radiotherapy at least one course reach 79% in North America, 76% in Australia. Because of long duration and severe adverse reaction, the normal regulations radiotherapy is not very satisfied. So, look up for a better radiotherapytechnique is necessary. The whole body gamma knife have the virtues of high accuracy, less injury, no infection. With shorter duration and better effect, it become currently a good choice for the treatment of lung cancer.Materials and MethodsFrom 12, 2002 to 11, 2004, 146 primary lung cancer of cases was admitted in the 117th Hospital gamma knife center application gamma knife treatments, among them male 112, 34 of female, the age varies 31-86, (66 ± 6.1).Histologic classification revealed:61 cases of the squamous cell carcinoma,40 cases of the adenocarcinoma, 9 cases of the large-cell carcinoma, 31 cases of the small-cell carcinoma, 4 cases of the adenosquamous carcinoma, 1 case of the mucoepidermoid carcinoma. According to the UICC clinical of 1997, grade I account 6 cases, grade II account 16 cases, grade IIIA account 17 cases, grade IIIB account 20 cases, grade IV account 56 cases (treat the original lesion to concomitant with cerebral or distal organ metastasis). According to the Karnofsky grade point standard ,the patients were calculated up to from between 50 to 80 cents, The diameter of the mass from 2.1 to 9.3 cm,(median diameter 6.2 cm). The effective rate of pain control was about 94.3%.2. The relation between the tumor pathological diagnosis and curative effect146 patients were diagnosed by pathologic histology beforetreatment. The curative effect was assessed within 2 to 22 months after treatment. The effective rate was about 96.8% in squamous cell lung cancer, 90% in adenocarcinoma patients, 100% in undifferentiated small cell and large cell lung cancer patients.3. The relation between tumor staging of the non -small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) with the curative effect.The effective rate of non-small cell lung cancer patients in the stage 1(6 cases) was 100%, stage-II (16 cases) is 100%, stageIII A ( 17 cases) 94.1%, stage HI B ( 20 cases) 95%, stagelV ( 56 cases) 92.9%. The total effective rate was 94.8%. No significant statistical difference (x2=0.51 P>0.05) between Stage 1,11 and stage IV.4.
