Radiotherapy is one of major clinical methods in treatment of most tumors. Along progresses of radiotherapy and related technologies in radiobiology, the radiotherapy is more widely introduced into treatment of other brain disease such as Parkinson's disease. However, there are still lack of data on the biological effect and injury of radiotherapy on the brain normal tissue and neurons. Therefore, purpose of this study is to examine expression of Pax-6, c-fos and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) of hippocampal and nigrostriatal neurons in response to ionizing irradiation and intervening effect of nimodipine and to provide experimental evidence for treatment and prevention of ionizing radiation injury or disorders of brain.Male BALB/c mice were used in the present study and whole-brain irradiation and prepared. Immunohistochemistry and semi-quantification analysis were utilized to study distribution and dynamic changes of Pax-6, Fos- and nitric oxides synthase (NOS)-positive neurons in the hippocampal and nigrostriatal regions. Furthermore, a calcium channel blocker nimodipine was also administrated in the experiment to...
