In these years, the study of the biological effects of magnetic fields has been listed as the important task in the field of biomedical engineering. In this dissertation, firstly, the advances of applications and background in biological effects of electromagnetic fields were systematically summarized. Then, based on the theories of electromagnetic fields, the low intensity pulsed magnetic instrument was developed. To study the biologic effects of low intensity pulsed magnetic fields on cardiovascular system, the levels of blood lipid, indexes of hemorheology, properties of cardiac function were examined. In addition, morphology of thoracic aorta and histomorphologic changes of hepatic and myocardial tissues were detected. The animal models were established. The mechanism of biological effects was discussed in detail. It is favorable to provide new methods and theoretical basis for preventing and curing cardiovascular diseases. The work can be summarized as follows:1. Based on current influential theories, such as resonance effect, coherent electric oscillation, penetration of particle and convolution resonance, the mechanism of athermal biological effects of magnetic fields was analyzed. The interactional effects between magnetic fields and organism were studied. Organism's response characteristic to certain magnetic fields is non-linear. It shows obvious frequency and power peculiarities, which is called "windows effect". So far as the extreme low frequency(<100Hz), low intensity(<100Gs)...
