Objective: The research of Mild Cognitive Impairment(MCI) is the hot issue for its high risk for AD, redounding to identify the high risk individual and to find out the methods of prevention. Thereinto the investigation of the mental status in MCI elders showed that extended negative emotion accelerated the decline of cognitive function as the probable correlative factor to MCI. In the TCM theories, the disorders of Seven-Emotional Factors and the organ of heart and spleen take close relationship with the thought and probably cause the forgettery. By far no study on relationships among mental status, deficiency of both heart and spleen and MCI was brought out. This research is the elementary one about this issue with two hypotheses that the low level of mental status is the correlative factor of MCI and there is significant correlation between mental status and the deficiency of both heart and spleen, one TCM syndrome of MCI.Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 98 persons without dementia aged from 50 to 80 years in out-patient and in-patient department of Guangdong province Hospital of TCM and community. We establish a questionary including a TCM syndrome part and psychologic scale based on the review of the correlative reports of MCI and theories of TCM. According to the locale research methods in epidemiology, we collect the general demology information, TCM symptoms, MUNSH, MMSE, ADL scores, building data-base with SPSS 11.0. And the contents of my research include :1. A single factorial and multi-factorial analysis of the effect of psychosocial factors to cognitive function. 2. A preliminary study on the essential TCM syndromes. 3. A 1:1 matched case-control study on the MUNSH scores (PE, NE, PA, NA)between MCI group and control group, also between deficiency of both heart and spleen group(DHSG) and non-deficiency...
