Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of GuJuXiao granule(GJX) in treating traumatic chronic osteomyelitis(TCO) and investigate its mechanism. Methods: 6 New Zealand white rabbits were randomly chose as normal group before the experiment and more rabbits were chose to establish animal models of chronic osteomyelitis. Subsequently, 30 rabbits which had been testified as successful models were randomly divided into three groups including traditional Chinese medicine group(oral medication of GuJuXiao granule) ,penicillin group(muscle injection of penicillin) and model group(no treatment) and 10 rabbits were included respectively.All were treated for 1 month..Such signs as bone X-rays,WBC and RBC rolling,erythrocyte c3b receptor ratio(E-c3bRR),erythrocyte immune compound ratio(E-ICR),Serum lysozyme activity and nistopathologic examination were observed. Results: Great significant contrast were found among the results of group of 'Chinese medicine' , and penicillin model (P < 0. 01). in respect of immunity between the group of 'Chinese medicine' and penicillin were significantly(P < 0. 05).As for X-rays and nistopathologic examination, traditional Chinese medicine group were better than penicillin group and model group.
