| Bleeding from esophageal varices is a common complication of cirrhosis associated with significant mortality. Endoscopic methods of treating esophageal varices bleeding are mainly EIS and EVL. Compared with EIS, the rare of rebleeding and complication was low in EVL. In this study , we use EVL-EIS-EVL method to treat EVB. The objective of this new method is to longer retention of sclerosant in varices, so the advantages of EVL and EIS are effectively combined. Objective: To study whether a new ligation-sclerotherapy-ligation method (combined endoscopic sandwich) will achieve better results than ligation alone in the treatment of esophageal variceal bleeding (EVB). Methods: One hundred and two patients were randomized to unergo either the sandwich method or ligation alone [50 patients in endoscopic variceal ligation (EVL) group and 52 patients in the group of sandwich method]. In the following-up (2~36months) period, the success rate of rebleeding and recurrent varices and the rate of complications were studied in both groups. Result: The success rate for controlling active EVB was the... |
