Objective To explore the expression of Cyclooygenase-2(COX-2) in delay ischemic preconditioning myocardium and liver in rabbits. Methods New Zealand rabbits(n=16)were randomly divided into 2 groups: group A(n=8):Delay ischemic preconditioning; group B(n=8): Normal controls. A mode of ischemic preconditioning myocardium was reproduced by ligation left ventricle branch. The COX-2 protein in myocardial and liver section were investigated by immunohistochemistry after 24 hour in rabbits .Results The expression of COX-2 protein in myocardium and liver in group A were significantly higher than in group B (P<0.05). The expression of COX-2 in ischemic area were higher than in non-ischemic area in delay ischemic preconditioning in rabbits (P<0.05).The correlation coefficients is positive among OD of COX-2 in delay preconditioning myocardium and the liver in rabbits. Conclusion Hypoxic preconditioning resulted in the expression of COX-2 in ischemic myocardium in rabbits as well as in non-ischemic area and the remote organ. The COX-2 protein was the important substance which possibly protected the ischemic myocardium and angiogenesis as well as attended the remote organ preconditioning.
