Pseudomonas areuginsa, has assumed an increasingly prominent role as the aetiological agent in serious infections of hospitalized patients. Because of the multidrug-resistance of Pseudomonas areuginsa ,the therapy has been difficult. In this paper, we investigated a total 5 years nomocomial infections and drug resistance of P. aeruginosa, and probed the role of metallo-β -Lactamas in multi drug-resistance.PART 1 5 years drug resistance of PseudomonasaeruginosaObjective To investigate the distribution and drug resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.Methods During 1999-2003, 1105 strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were isolated from our hospital. All the strains were indentified and given drug sensitive tests .Results 21.06% of Pseudomonas aeruginosa was found from sputum and 10.76% was found from secretion. The clinical isolated drug resistant stains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were creasing yearby year. The antibiotic activities of imipenem, amikacin, ceftazidime and piperacillin against Pseudomonas areuginosa were stronger than others. Imipenem and amikacin had the strongest activity against Pseudomonas areuginosa with the susceptibility of 76.32% and 76.03%.Conclusion In order to provide more evidence for clinical therapy, the stains of resistance of Pseudomonas areuginosa should be investigated.
