Background: Esophageal carcinoma is one of the commonly malignant tumor. Our country belongs to the high incident nation with the scope of the world. It is seriously threat the safety of people' s life. Recently more and more researchers and clinical doctors find the main cause of death by practice is local recurrence and lymph node metastasis and pathological change. Some specialists find micrometastasis in lymph node. Nowadays, pathological diagnosis is based on HE staining and observing by microscope. Now it is not enough to diagnose. We try to test the esophageal carcinoma lymph node specimen which is HE staining negative by microscope, to analyse the relationship between micro-metastasis and prognosis, and to direct the clinical therapy. Objective: Choosing the post-operation esophageal carcinoma specimen which was marked specificity by CK-19. Examining the lymph node metastasis and micrometastasis. Analyzing the prognosis, directing therapy, improving the patients survival rate. Methods: 100 cases of patients were selected randomly from those who underment surgery from 1998.1 to 1999.12. Choosing the parafin specimen of esophageal carcinoma lymph node, examining the metastasis lymph node by microscope which was used as control group, detecting the lymph node which is negative by microscope. Using CK-19 monoantigen marks cell, setting up the same type control. Examining the marked cell by FITC. Analyzing the consequence , then comes to the conclusion. Results: There are 1248 lymph node in 100 cases of esophageal carcinoma. 1, 3, 5 year of survival rate are 89°/90% 61%>, 37%. HE staining positive 279, metastatic rate is 33%, metastatic degree is 22.4%, FITC coincidence 100%. HE staining positive patients 1,3, 5 year of survival rate are 87.9%, 39. 4%, 15.2%; HE staining negative patients 1, 3...
