Objective To probe the characteristics of molecular epidemiology under the implementation of DOTS strategy in tuberculosis, to make sure the pravenlence and incidence of tuberculosis in the research post, as well as to know the comprehensive effect of tuberculosis control in terms of the case-finding, register, treatment and management. Methods To be adopted by the ways of prospective and intervene to research the characteristics of molecular epidemiology under the implementation of DOTS strategy in tuberculosis. Results During the period of a study of the characteristics of molecular epidemiology under the implementation of DOTS strategy in tuberculosis, in terms of the MIRU examination, the cluster rate is 70%, of the Shandong cluster accounts for 22%,its decrease has a great significance with 2002(p<0.005) An epidemiology link rate is 32.5%. The total DR (Drug Resistance) rate and the MDR (Mutiple Drug Resistance) rate are 21.1% aid 5.2%, respectively, and their rates have markedly decrease than 2002(p<0.005) The cure rate of the smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis is 90.3%; the rate of DOTS implementation is 96.4%; the rate of receivedpopular education of tuberculosis control is 93% of all patients. Conclusion The study of the characteristics of molecular epidemiology under the implementation of DOTS strategy in tuberculosis has made successfully experience in aspects of evaluation and survey, and then give the promotion, direction,adjustment and alertness to the continuative implementation of DOTS strategy, the comprohensive effect of tuberculosis control has been avaliable.
