Objective To analysis the mediastinal lymph nodes of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and find reasonable dissection of mediastinal lymph nodes. Methods In 60 surgical patients with non-small cell lung cancer, the pathologically confirmed dissected mediastinal lymph nodes were retrospectively analyzed. Results Among 324groups of mediastinal lymph nodes systemically dissected(mean 6.2 groups),110 groups were pathologically metastasis, the rate of mediastinal lymph nodes was 34%,including simple mediastinal lymph nodes metastasis diseases(8cases,13.33%).Conclusions Mediastinal lymph nodes metastasis is used to upper mediastinum for upper lobe cancers, while both upper and lower mediastinum are metastasis sites for both lower lobe cancers. The mediastinal lymphatic metastasis in non-small cell lung cancer showed the features of salutatory infiltration and multiple levels of involvement.Cure could be achieved only after extended dissection of intrapulmonary and mediastinal lymph nodes.
