Objective: To investigate the application value of middle-fieldMagnetization transfer imaging of tumor and tumor-like lesions inbrain.Materials and methods: The conventional MR imaging and SE ,3DSPGR sequences with and without MT pulse were performed in 20 casesof benign neoplasms ,26 cases of malignant neoplasms and 10 casesof tumor-like lesions(histopathology verified or clinical following-upconfirmed) before operation and clinical cure, including 24 necroticor cystic cases (34 lesions),and also 36 cases with enhanced T1WI,SE-MTI,3DSPGR-MTI were included. The values of which measuring orcalculating from all sequences were processed and statisticalanalyses were performed by using the software of SPSS11.0.Results: The C and C/Ns values of SE-MTI were the lowest among thefour Unenhanced sequences, and the C value of T2WI was the highestthan that of other three sequences(p﹤0.001),however, the C/Ns valueof 3DSPGR-MTI was higher than that of T2WI( p=0.335) and T1WI,SE-MTI(p﹤0.001);For three enhanced sequences, 3DSPGR-MTI had thehighest C/Ns value, the second SE-MTI, the third T1WI(p﹤0.001among them),and the C values of 3DSPGR-MTI and SE-MTI were almostsame ,both of which were higher than that of T1WI(p valuewas 0.016,0.003 respectively). The SEMTR and 3DSPGRMTR of solidparts among benign ,malignant and tumor-like lesions had nostatistical difference each other, however, necrotic area ofabscesses had significant higher SEMTR,3DSPGRMTR than necrotic orcystic area of glioma and metastasis (p﹤0.001), and there was nodifference between necrotic or cystic area of glioma and metastasis(p>0.20).Conclusion: Enhanced 3DSPGR-MTI might be the substitutefor conventional Enhanced T1WI,the measurement of its MTRwas helpful in differentiating brain abscess from necrotic orcystic tumors on middle field, and was an important supplementary forroutine MRI.
