Objective To develop a novel canine model for comparison of reducingmucus production of resevoirs after the treatment of different drugs. Methods To design the experiment according with the statisticalprinciple of latin square .The study comprised 6 adult healthy female dogs.Ineach dog , we constructed 6 "Ileal conduits"with a 50cm long ileum .The "ileal conduits"were instilled with anhydrous alcohol ,87.5%alcohol ,2% tinctura io di, 1% tinctura io di, 10 % formalin andplacebo(saline) during surgery .And the conduits was instilled with theartificial urine for 5 hours every day after operation .The "urine"sampleswere analyzed for mucus protein. 2 weeks later, the mucosa samples werecollected and were analyzed after AB-PAS (Alcian Blue-Periodic acid Schiff)assay .And the morphological changes were observed through microscopeand electron microscope. The mucus secretion, goblet cell count , height ofvilli and crypt depth et al were studied. Results The canine model wsa established successfully in all 6 dogs. Thedata comfirmed that the use of active treatment in our study did result in asignicant reduction in mucin production. And the changes of histology wereobvious (p<0.005).Conclusion The anhydrous alcohol has advantages of reducing mucinthan the other drugs . The model is proved to be successful .
