Fritillaria cirrhosa D. Don belongs to Fritillaria Liliaceae and distributes over highlands of east to south of Tibet, northeast of Yunnan and west of Sichuan. The drug has significant antitussive and expectorant effect which is based on the alkaloids it contains.Lots of research articles have been reported mainly about the alkaloids of the plant and some about non-alkaloid constituents several other Fritillaria plants contain(as shown later), while few is about the non-alkaloid constituents from Fritillaria cirrhosa D. Don. It has been widely accepted that Fritillaria cirrhosa D. Don show better antitussive and expectorant effects than Fritillaria thunbergii Miq. Research work shown Fritillaria cirrhosa D. Don contains less total alkaloids but more total saponins than Fritillaria thunbergii Miq. It was reported that total saponins Fritillaria cirrhosa D. Don contains has good antitussive and expectorant effects. For the purpose of gaining thorough knowledge about non-alkaloid constituents and pharmacological effects of non-alkaloid constituents Fritillaria cirrhosad. Don contains, some research work about non-alkaloid constituents from Fritillaria cirrhosa D. Don, especially high polar constituents of this part which may contain saponins, has been done.First, references of origin, distribution and custom about the drug are searched, research work of origin description and microscopic character of sample have been made, the drug was identified as Fritillaria cirrhosa D. Don.Then, non-alkaloid constituents were extracted from the drug from which alkaloids had been extracted, 9 compounds were isolated from the non-alkaloid constituents by the means of silica colume chromatography. After that, on the basis of NMR and MS spectra, 6 compounds were identified as P-sitosterol> Oleinic acicU P-coumaric acid> 3 -D-glu 4—-lp-D-gaK sucrose and (3 -sitosterol-3-0- {3 -D-glucoside; Other three compounds were identified as a lignans compound, a oleinic compound and a multi alcohol on the basis of research work which has been clone. At last, method of HPLC determination of sucrose and 3-D-glu 4 -*1 P -D-gal in Fritillaria cirrhosa D. Don was founded and sucrose and P-D-glu 4 —IP-D-gal in Fritillaria cirrhosa D. Don were determined.According to references published, Oleinic acid, P -coumaric acid, P-D-glu 4-1 P-D-gal and p-sitosterol - 3-0- P -D-glucoside are the conpounds thich have been found for the first time in Fritillaria Liliaceae.
