[Objectives ]According to retrospective investigations and detailed questionnaire investigations of drunken-driving accidents, the author want to sum up the drunken-driving epidemiological characteristics, then give a precautionary accordance. [Methods]In this paper, descriptive statistic analysis and retrospective investigation methods is used for the drunken-driving accidents. The uncontrol accidents group is composed of 542 units of detailed investigation during 1999 and 2003, the control group is composed of no-drunken-driving 731 units which selected from 75,324 accidents randomly in the same period, Chengdu area. The sample group is composed of 52 drivers of drinking-driving before. 79 drivers independent of drinking-driving randomly selected composed of the control group. At the same time, we used qualitative and quantitative researching methods to collect relating data, sum up subjective and external influence factors from traffic security education, traffic management, traffic psychology and traffic rules and other aspects, and then make a conclusion. [Results]The inducing death odds ratio of drunken-driving accidents is 1.72times of no-drunken-driving accidents. Its'twenty-four-hours-distributing-trend is adverse. The proportion of nonprofessional drivers is obviously different from the control group in the results(P<0.001). The damage degree from drunken driving is more serious than other traffic accidents. The outgoing motive of two types of drivers was also significantly different. The demography characteristic of two types of drivers is consistent. The drinking-driving drivers agree with light peccancy punish, and other drivers agree with serious peccancy punish(P< 0.000). However, two type drivers agree with peccancy punish to those drivers of drinking-driving induced the traffic accidents. Most drinking-driving drivers drove tipsily time after time. Because of worse security educations and no-strictly examinations from related traffic departments, drivers didn't know enough the harm of drinking-driving.[Conclusion]The aftereffect of the drinking-driving traffic accidents was more serious than those not related with alcohol. They have different characteristics. Drinking-driving drivers, especially those drivers not induced drinking-driving traffic accidents, didn't know enough the harm of drinking-driving behaviors. The law about strictly prohibiting drunken driving should be constituted and strictly implemented. Drivers should study traffic rules through many ways. At the same time, traffic departments should exam drinking-driving drivers strictly.
