Objective: To discuss the hepatic morphological indexes of posthepatitic cirrhosis patients' livers which had been removed during transplantation operation : (1) The descriptive research on livers of their average values of volume ,weight ,density on those posthepatitic cirrhosis patients. (2)To investigate whether there is a linear correlation between the Child-Pugh scores of the hepatic functional reserves and the volume, weight, density of livers. (3) The variety tendency about the volume ratio of the left and right lobe to the whole liver . Methods: To determinate the volume, weight, and density of left and right lobe in 38 hepatic cirrhosis patients' removed liver with drainage, respectively, from Mat. 2004 to Jan. 2005 in liver tansplantation center of the west china hospital . Then to discuss the relationship between those indexes and hepatic functions, Calculating the average value of volume ratio of the left lobe to the whole liver in 33 patients and investigating the variety regulation of the left lobe ratio on posthepatitic cirrhosis. Result: (1) On the end-stage posthepatitic cirrhosis condition(male 22 cases and female 10 cases), the volume means of liver in males is 597±191cm3 ; the volume means of liver in females is 489±160cm3 ;the weight means of liver in males and females is respectively 764±181g and 726±175g ;the means of LV(liver volume)/BSA(body surface area) is 315±100cm3/cm2;the means of LW(liver weight)/BSA is 422±98g/cm2; thedensity means of liver is 1.39±0.24g/cm3 . (2) There is the linear negative correlation significantly between the liver Child-Pugh scores and the values of whole LV, LV7BSA, the whole LW and LW/BSA. There is the linear positive correlation significantly between the Child-Pugh scores and the whole liver density. (3)In End-stage posthepatitic cirrhosis liver, the means of the left LV/whole LV is 45.8%± 11.3% and the one of the right LV/whole LV is 54.2%±11.3%.Comparing End-stage posthepatitic cirrhosis liver to normal one, we found that the ratio of the LV of the left lobe to whole liver increased significantly . Conclusion: (l)Among the indexes of liver volume, liver weight and liver density, the liver volume is the much more accurate index in assessing hepatic functional reserves level, but the method is complex. Otherwise, the liver density also can be used to assess the hepatic functional reserves level and the method is easier and more applicable than measuring liver volume. (2) In order to assess the hepatic function in posthepatitic cirrhosis, there is complement effect between Child-Pugh scores and the hepatic morphological indexes. (3) In end-stage posthepatitic cirrhosis liver, the ratio of the LV of the left lobe to whole liver increas significantly.
