Studies On The Chemical Constituents Of Cynanchum Bungei Decne

The dried root of Cynanchum bungei Decne has been used in traditional medicine for the prevention and treatment of geriatric diseases and prolonging life. Many studies on chemical constituents of other two kinds of plants used as "Bai-Shu-Wu" in China have been done. However ,until now only a few work has been done on C. bungei. In this chemical study on C. bungei. , six compounds have been isolated . On the basis of chemical reactions,spectral evidences and also by comparison with some authentic samples and their standard spetras, they were proposed as follows : 2,4-dihydroxyaceto-phenone(Ⅰ), 2,5-dihydroxyacetophenone (Ⅱ), 4-hydroxyacetophenone (Ⅲ), (—) leucanthemitol (Ⅳ) , baishouwubenzophenone (Ⅴ), succinic acid (Ⅵ). Ⅱ, Ⅴ, Ⅵ are firstly isolated from this plant.
