| Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effect on patients with post-mastoidectomy managed by the aid of otoendoscope. Subjects and methods: sixty-four patients with cholesteatoma operated in the department of ENT in Hua xi hospital from April 2001 to August 2001 were included .All the cases undergone mastoidectomy were randomized into two groups by simple randomization, experimental group and control group.32 cases in the experimental group were managed by the aid of otoendoscopes,and 32 cases in control group were managed by the routine method.All information including disease history ,physical examination ,and HRCT were recorded . The ear drying rate and the ear drying time in the two groups were collected respectively.Results: All cases were followed up for 4 month. The ear drying rate of the experimental group wasn't significant higher than that in control group (P>0.01),the ear drying rate in experimental group was 96.9%, ear drying rate in control group was 93.8%. ear drying time in experimental group was 50.76±13.45天(M±SD),and ear drying time in the control group was60.7 + 12.2 ^(M + SD).The ear drying time in experimental group was significantly shorter than that in control group (P<0.01).The time of finding the first gralulation in experimental group was 21+5.05 ^(M + SD),and that in control group was 24.8 + 5.64 ^(M±SD).The time of finding the first the gralulation in experimental group was earlier than that in control group (PO.001). Conclusion:1 It can't raise the ear drying rate to manage the patients with post-mastoidectomy by the aid of otoendoscopes.2 By managing the patients with post-mastoidectomy by the aid of otoendoscopes,the ear drying time is shorter than that in patients by managed routine method .3 By managing the patients with post-mastoidectomy by the aid of otoendoscopes,the time of finding gralulation is shorter than that in patients by managed routine method .4 the time of finding gralulation was positive relationship with the ear drying time.
