Objective: To study the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) changes of the monkeys after selective cerebral ultra-deep hypothermic blood flow occlusion , and explain the protection of hypothermia to the ischemic brains by MRI. Methods: We based on the model of monkey brain resusitation after selective cerebral deep hypothermic blood flow occlusion which we had made in 2002 (we had successfully made 5models) , and kept the brain between 14. 3-16℃ for 60 min by selective cerebral perfusion . Ten healthy 4-10 year-aged maca mulattas were divided randomly into three groups , including the two blood vessels (bilateral CCA) occluded and ultra-hypothermic perfusing groups (short for A group , n=4) which , the two blood vessels (bilateral CCA) occluded and isothermic(37℃ ) perfusing groups (short for B group , n=2) , the four blood vessels occluded and ultra-hypothermic perfusing groups (bilateral CCA and vertebral artery , n=4) . The scan was performed with MR before and after operations (including T1, T2 water depreeed imaging, magnetic resonance diffusion imaging DWI etc) , and we find the perhaps ischemic changings of the early phase or not in different brain region with DWI . The vital sings was monited during the operations . The neurofunctionscales were evaluated before and after the operations . Results: In all of the 10 monkeys , all of the A group mongkeys were survived and the vital sings monited during the operations were steady . The neurofunction scales evaluated before and after the operations did not have siganificant difference. The B group and the C group were all not able to be resuscitated and died after perfusion. Comparing the MR , there were no sings indicating ischemic changing in the brain tissures of the A group and the C group , and the B group had ischemic changing.. Conclusion: There is siganificant protection for the monkeys' brains in the state of selective cerebral deep hypothermic blood flow occlusion , but the model of the four blood vessels occluded and ultra-hypothermic perfusing need more profound study.
