Reproductive Health Promotion For Mobile Population-Exploring Project Results With The Health Promotion Theory

China is now characterized by its increasing mobile population, who are largely moving to cities from rural areas. As a marginalized vulnerable group in urban areas, they are suffering from a number of reproductive health issues. The study is based on a project on promoting reproductive health and life skills of mobile population conducted in six provinces (cities) in China. An investigation was conducted in the project to understand the real conditions of mobile population's reproductive health and RH related service provision. Furthermore, the theory of health promotion is applied in analyzing the findings from the investigation. The methodologies include literature review, quantitative and qualitative survey, and theoretical study. The results of the study demonstrate that it is necessary to carry out reproductive health promotion projects to improve mobile population's reproductive health; mobile population lack reproductive health knowledge and need targeted reproductive health services; it is important to create a supportive environment for mobile population, particularly those who are disadvantaged; reproductive health services should be provided flexibly according to mobile population's needs; health equity in healthcare services for mobile population is to be promoted. Finally, several recommendations and implications are raised through examining how the theory of health promotion is used in promoting mobile population's reproductive health.
