Purpose: To analyze the reliability of MRI malignant signs of soft tissue masses in extremities and to improve the distinctive diagnosis of benign lesions and malignant tumors.Materials and Methods: 68 patients of soft -tissue lesions who undergone the MRI have been analyzed retrospectively about their image signs in recent three years. 30 case with malignant MRI signs were particularly studied with two-groups (Benign lesions and malignant tumor group) basing on pathologic examination . The reliability of malignant signs for malignant tumor diagnosis were analyzed. SAS microsoft and methods of statistics according to an anova by two factors of design were used .P<0.05 (0.01) indicates that the difference of the two compared groups had a remarkable statistics significence. Results and conclusion: Results (1) Diagnostic accuracy of 68 cases of soft -tissue masses was 89.7%. The histopathologic diagnostic accuracy for soft-tissue masses of MRI was 66.2%. (2) The invasion and edema around masses for malignant tumordiagnosis had a remarkable statistics significence among five malignant signs, P=0.0082;P=0.0079 (PO.01) respectively. P of other three malignant signs ( area extension, margin unclear, mixed signs) was equal to 0.45, 0.37, 0.63 respectively. The difference of two compared groups had no statistics significence (P>0.05). (3) The sign that structure of muscular fibrosis was unclear had a statistics significence for malignant tumor diagnosis ,P=0.0212(P<0.05). Conclusion (1) The invasion and edema around masses for malignant tumor diagnosis were reliable ,but other three malignant signs were not. (2) The sign that structure of muscular fibrosis was unclear was a reliable sign for malignant tumor diagnosis. (3) CT, MRI, X-ray combining diagnosis can improve the diagnostic accuracy of malignant signs...
