| objective To investigate whether it can effect the short-term and long-term therapeutic effectiveness, postoperative life quality and complication that preserving uvula or not in uvulopalatopharyngoplasty. Methods To analysis the data of 67 cases who were diagnosed as OSAHS (obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome) and have underdone the UPPP (uvulopalatopharyngoplasty), in whom 52 cases were reserved the uvula and 15 cases were not in the operation. Comparing the short-term(three months later after operation) therapeutic effectiveness, long-term(one year later after operation) therapeutic effectiveness, postoperative life quality and complication between two groups. Results The short-term curative effectiveness were 82.69% and 86.67% respectively in two groups. There is no significant difference between two groups (P>0.05). One year later after operation, the curative effectiveness were 67.31% and 73.33% respectively in two groups. The difference between two groups has no significant (p>0.05). the painfulness score of the reserving uvula group (x ± s) was 5.64 ± 2.21,and of the no reserving uvula group, the painfulness score(x ± s) was 7.12 ± 3.24 .The difference between two groups was significant (p<0.05). The incidence of nasopharyn refluxing was 28.85% and 60% respectively in two groups. The difference was significant (p<0.05). The incidence of rhinolalia aperta was 34.62% in the group of reserving uvula and was 66.67% in the no reserving uvula group. The difference was significant (p<0.05). The persistent time of postoperative painfulness, nasopharyn refluxing and rhinolalia aperta in reserving uvula group was shorter than in no reserving uvula group. Conclusions Reserving uvula in UPPP can reduce the postoperative complication and enhance the life quality without degrading the therapeutic effectiveness. |
