Objective: To observe the clinical effect of treated severe dislocation Of acromioclavicular joint by coracoclavicular fixator. Methods: From 1995 to 2005, 60 patients were divided into 2 groups. One is control group, with coracoclavicular fixator. The other is compare group, With K wire and tenson-band wire. The study include: the subjective symptoms of arm muscular contraction power, function of the shoulder joint, pain of the shoulder joint and space of acromioclavicular joint and based on Kralsson evaluation. Result: Two groups were follower up. Control group was followed up from 2 to 58 months and the Average of follow-up is 23.6 months. The compare group was followed up from 2 to 61 months and the average of follow-up is 25.93 months. Compared control group and the compare group. arm muscular contraction power: the control group: excellent 16 (53.3%), good 13 (43.3%), The compare group: excellent 17 (56.7%), good 11(36.7%), function of the shoulder joint: the control group: excellent 18(60%), good 10(33.3%), The compare group: excellent 15(50%), good 10(30%), Pain of the shoulder joint: the control group: excellent 21(70%), good 6(20%), The compare group: excellent 14 (70%), good 12(40%), Space of acromioclavicular jointthe control group: excellent 15(50%), good 14(46.7%), The compare group: excellent 19 (63.3%), good 9(30%), Kralsson evalua-tionthe control group: excellent 15(50%), good 14(30%),the compare group : excellent 16(53.3%),good 12(40%). The difference was not significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The clinical effect by coracoclavicular fixator is equivalent to it by K wire and tension-band wire. This fixtor is asimple ^ economic and pradical method of the external fixation for severe coracoclavicular joint dislocation.
