Methyl chloroacetate is used widely as a industrial material, for example as a middle material in pesticide and medicine making.A safety evaluation study for it has been carried out according to the national standard: GB15670-1995 and GB15193-94.The tests include acute and subchronic oral toxicity, irritation to eyes and skin, micronucleus in bone marrow cell, the level of testeron in blood, the apoptosis of testicular cell and used SCEG inspect the damage of the rat DNA in sperm.Result showed as follow:1.The rat Oral LD50=172.08 mg / kgBW and the mouse oral LD)50=147.00 mg / kgBW that suggest it is the middle oral toxic material in the industry.2. It's cumulation is weak, Ic=0.3. The middle skin and eyes irritation in the house rabbit.4. Negative result observed from the experiments of micronuleus test of bone marrow cell.5. Subchronic toxicity found the high group with methyl chloroacetate was damaged in the male kidney and the female liver, the NOAEL is 4.3 mg / kgBW.6. The apoptosis of testicular cell, the level of T in serum ,the rate of comet cell in the sperm and the comet tail in the high group are all different significantly to the control (P< 0.05) .Results indicate that the methyl chloroacetate has toxicity in the rats,so it is necessary that established an occupational exposure limit in the workshop.
