[Background and objective]Hepatitis E virus was discovered in 1982. Hepatitis E is transmitted mainly through polluted water and food-borne and contagious are also the transmitted ways, which can cause pandemic but also sporadic case. People in our country have a high risk of the infection of hepatitis E. Sporadic cases of hepatitis E has reported through our country. To further study the clinical characteristic and epidemiological features, we assayed the clinical date of 280 case of acute sporadic hepatitis E retrospectively, which offer evidence for therapy and precaution.[Material and method]1. Objects: Choose 280 cases of acute diverging hepatitis E inZhuji People Hospital of Zhejiang province , Patients enrolled were in hospital from January, 2001 to December, 2005.2. Methods: ELISA assay was used to estimate the level of HEV-IgMN HEV-IgG. Diagnose is based on the criteria established in 2000 at Xi'an. One whose serum HEV-IgM and(or) HEV-IgG is positive, and displays a acute hepatitis symptoms with the unnormal liver function is dignosied as acute hepatitis E.3. Date statistic: Questionnaire was send to every patient and collect the information such as age, sex, history of hepatitis and over +drink, inhabitancy, laboratory diagnosis and clinical symptoms and signs. All data were input into Excell 2000. Data was show as mean ± standard deviation, U test was used to test significant between two groups.[Result]Acute sporadic hepatitis E may emergence through the whole year, but mainly in spring and winter. Especially in March April and June. The susceptibility age is from 40 to 59, which occupy about 46.1%. Hepatitis E is more common with male, the ratio of male and female is 6.4:1.Severe and persistent jaundice is seen in these patients. Jaundice in geriatric patient (>60years) is more grievous and persistent than in otherclass (P<0.05). Infection rate in country is higher than in city which is significant difference between two factors, higher risk group include who has the history of over drink and outdoor dinner.[Conclusion]1. Acute sporadic hepatitis E may invasion in whole year, but mainly in spring and winter.2. Severe and persistent jaundice is clinical feature, especially geriatric patient.3. The incidence rate of acute sporadic hepatitis E was high in the people who has risk factors such as male, 40-59 years old, residing in country ,had a history of over drink and outdoor dinner.4. Generally to say, the prognosis of acute diverging hepatitis E is better, it can not develop chronic hepatitis in the most case.
