Objective : To investgate the rule of thyroid hormone change and its clinical significance in patients with CHF.Methods: Serum concentrations of thyroid hormones (triiodothyronine, thyroxine, thy- roidstimulating hormone ) were measured with radiommunoassy in control group (30 cases )and CHF group (30 cases). Results T3and FT3 were lower in patients with CHF in comparison with controls (P < 0.05 ), and they had significant difference between each two grades among grade â…¡ to â…£ of cardiac function(P<0. 05) , the severer the CHF was, the lower the concentration of FT3 (P<0. 05);TSH showed no significant differences between the two groups; The serum concentration of FT4 decreased in severe CHF patients. Conclusion : The serum thyroid hormones changes exist in CHF patients, its degree is related to the severity of heart failure , but not the underling heart diseases. The serum concent- ration of FT3 may be an index in evaluating the state of illness in patients with CHF.
