Objective: To investigate the advantage and disadvantage between Endoscopic-assisted Transoral Adenoidectomy (ETA) and traditional Transoral Curette Adenoidectomy (TCA). Methodes: Forty-three Children with adenoid hypertrophy were admitted to accept adenoidectomy. 20 of them had Endoscopic-assisted Transoral adenoidectomy (ETA) and 23 of them had traditional Transoral Curette Adenoidectomy (TCA). The effective rate of snoring and nasal obstruction were compared between the two groups after operation. It was statistically analyzed by x~2 test. The peak pressure of acoustic immittance in part cases was also considered. Results: The effective rate of snoring between the two methods had no difference. The effective rate of nasal obstruction in ETA group was significantly higher than that in TCA group (p<0.05). We analyzed the acoustic immittance of 23 children who had adenoid hypertrophy but no hearing loss. 39% of their data indicated negative pressure. Conclusion: There was no difference between the two methods to cure snoring. But when it goes to nasal obstruction and negative pressure in tympanum ETA was regarded as a better approache than TCA.
