Objective: To asses the operation indications, preoperative evaluation, technique essentials, complications, short-term and mid-term efficacy of Endovascular stent-graft exclusion for Stanford B type aortic dissections. Methods: From march 2003 to January 2006, Endovascular stent-graft exclusion for Stanford B type aortic dissections was performed in 25 patients, CTA or MRA was used as preoperative evaluation methods, the stent-graft were inserted from the femoral artery to exclude the tear of dissection, and all operations were performed under the DSA guidance. Results: The grafts were installed successfully in 24 patients, In 20 patients proximal tears were excluded,4 patients occurred endoleak,2 of them disappeared after the installed another graft, because wire could not enter the true lumen, 1 patient was performed percutaneous ballonenestion, 2 patients recurrence of abdominal aortic dissection, 1 of them treated by install another graft, 1 patient died 5 days after the operation because of mesentric artery embolism, 24 patients were in good, state. Follow up study by CTA, TEE demonstrated that no accidents related to the operation and dissection occurred, all patients were in good state. Conclusion: The short-term and mid-term follow- up study demonstrated that EVGE possesses the advantages of being micro-invasive, safety and efficient.
