Objective : Neonatalhypoxic and ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a nerve system injured disease due to its high mortality , its sequelae (such as brain palsy, amentia, epilepsy and so on) . The injury of neonatal brain after HI is not only the damage of pathogenesis of primary hypoxia, but also the damage of ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) with the production of free Radical, inflammary factors and microcircle failure. I/R is the main cause of complicated dieases after HIE. It were found that glial cells are abnormally active, can express iNOS and produce NO. NO may be one of the most important molecular in I/R. Astragalus Membranaceus (AM) is one type of traditional medicines of our country. Studies have proved that AM have many effects such as protecting the brain cells after ischemia, adjusting the energy metabolism in I/R, decreasing excitatory toxicity of neurons. My study examined the cultured astrocytes imitating the model of I/R in Vivo through establishing the model of hypoxia /reoxygenation(HR) in Vitro , to observe the changes of morphology of astrocytes and the expression of iNOS by immunocytochemical examinations and the protective effect of AM injection. The results of the test may provide accordance for...
