| It is very important to supply blood for regenerative peripheral nerve. Degenerative, disintegrating axons and myelin sheath debris can be cleared out rapidly by the fairly rich blood-supplying, and secondary inflammation injury can also be relieved. At the same time, nutrimental materials can be provided for schwann's cells (SCs), which increases biological function of the SCs; rebuilding microenvironment is favourable to regeneration of axons. So blood-supplying not only can induce regeneration of the injured axons, but also can induce reformation of the myelin sheaths, facilitating growth and matureness of the regenerative nerve fibres, promoting recovering nerve function. Blood-surpplying is more required to repair thick or long peripheral nerve defects than thin or short ones. Many methods have been used to repair peripheral nerve defects, such as nerve grafting with blood vessels, implantation of an adventitia tube containing nerve segment and blood vessels, implantation of an adventitia tube with blood vessels and schwann's cells, and so on. All of these methods have not evident effect for peripheral nerve regeneration and functional recovery. How to ameliorate the blood-supplying in course of the regeneration and repair of the injured peripheral nerve causes extensive interesting of neuroscience researcher. NGF is a neurotrophic factor that has been studied earlier and deeply, can promote growth of the nerve, maintain living of neurons and repair injured nerves. Recently It has been found out that NGF can promote angiogenesis of the non-neural peripheral tissue indirectly through increasing the expression of VEGF. Even NGF is called a vessel growth factor for that it can promote angiogenesis itself directly. NGF shows angiogenesis in non-neural peripheral tissue, such as ischemia muscle tissues, cornea, choroidal and iris etc. NGF's angiogenesis on regenerative peripheral nerve is rarely reported. We initially observed more blood vessles in the regenerative nerve when we compared the different effects of NGF and CNTF in the process of their promoting nerve regenration, but is it sure to increase the quantity of blood vessels in the regenerative nerve? has NGF a... |
