Atherosclerosis(As) has become the first killer of human being with the development of sociometric and the aging of population. It can injure the vascular endothelium and lead to endothelial disfunction. Endothelial injury and disfunction play an important role in atherosclerotic processes.Vascular endothelium repair is important after intima injury. Traditionally, neovascularization of disturbed microcirculation was considered to result exclusively from the proliferation, migration, and remodeling of fully differentiated endothelial cells (ECs) derived from pre-existing blood vessels. Recently, however, it was demonstrated that bone marrow derived endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) may home to sites of postnatal neovascularization and differentiate into ECs in situ, which is called"vasculogenesis". Endothelial progenitor cells are primitive bone marrow (BM) cells that have the capacity to proliferate, migrate, and differentiate into various mature endothelia1 cell type. The first evidence indicating the presence of EPCs in the adult circulation emerged that mononuclear blood cells from healthy human volunteers were shown to acquire an endothelial cell-like phenotype in vitro and to incorporate into capillaried in vivo. These EPCs were characterized by expression of CD34, CD133 and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2). EPCs may play an important role in endothelium maintenance, being implicated in both reendothelialization and neovascularization. But we still know little about the influencing factors of EPCs.Aging is a process of organism after mature. It leads to somatocyte disfunction. And aging is a main factor of atherosclerosis. Rauscher found that inject BM cells can effect the development of atherosclerosis. But different aging BM cells have different functions. He suggested that the function of BM cells are correlated with ages, the older of age,the worse of cells functional activity. Other studies also showed that aging can influence the BM cells numbers and mobilization. On the bases of these study we suggested that aging is a major...
