Objective:Hepatectomy of liver segment, subsegment, Wedge shape and liver segment transplantation had been widely developed in clinic. The segment IV could act as a separated source for liver transplantation. Furthermore, the subsegment IVb had been cut successfully in the past. Thus the comprehension of the anatomical structures of segment IV was more important. The modified Couinaud's liver segment classification had been widely accepted internationally, it was the standard basis of this study. We did more research about the boundary and the anatomical landmark between the subsegments IVa and IVb, gained the data of numbers and diameters of PV branches supplying the two subsegments and the ramification type of LPV branches of the two subsegments. The study could add the morphological information of liver segment IV and supply the useful reference information for the radiological diagnosis and clinical hepatectomy of subsegments IVa and IVb.Methods:15 donated human fresh isolated liver specimens and 20 liver corrosion cast specimens were used in this study,.The multicolor segmental corrosion cast technique, combined methods of multicolor segmental plastination slices technique, and the helical CT three-dimensional reconstruction technique were used on 15 donated human fresh isolated liver specimens. Through these methods, liver corrosion cast specimens and liver horizontal plastination slices were made out and then were carefully observed. We also compared the CT reconstruction images with the corrosion cast specimens and horizontal plastination slices. At the...
