The rupture and trigger thrombosis of coronary atherosclerotic plaque usually results in acute coronary syndrome and finally turns to death. Meanwhile, the structure and the composition of plaque its own vulnerability plays an important role. This study was to assess that under the inflammatory state, the local expression and related relationship between MMP-9 and TGF-β1, during the formation and development of atherosclerosis. Sixty-four left anterior descending coronary arteries in sixty-four autopsy cases were enrolled. The arteries were analyzed and divided into two groups. The lethal group means the atherosclerotic leading to death, including 35 cases. The non-lethal group means the atherosclerotic arteries not leading to death, including 29 cases. HE and EVG staining, and also computer software analysis were used to analyze the remodeling type. Immunohistochemistry was used to visualized the presence of macrophages (CD68 + ), vascular smooth muscular cells, the analysis of plaque vulnerability. And it was also used to examine the local expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), so that we can find their relationship.Although coronary atherosclerotic cases have almost same normal vascular cross-sectional area (P > 0.05), compared to...
