Objectives: Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) extensively exists in eukaryocytes, which is a locus where proteins are synthesized, modified, folded and intracellular calcium is saved. The disorder of calcium ion and the accumulation of unfolded protein can lead to ER stress and thus induce a protective response-unfolded protein response (UPR). ER stress directly affects the outcome of the stress-induced cell such as restore, damage or apoptosis.A lot of nervous system diseases are correlated with ER stress. Recently studies have shown that apoptosis signal transduction pathway mediated by ER stress may have relation with Alzhimer's disease (AD). Therefore interfere in ER stress may offer a new way to prevent and therapia AD.In the view of Traditional Chinese Medicine, brain is the sea of marrow, and the kidney stores essence of life and promotes the formation of marrow. The essence stored in kidney is the important foundation for the function of brain. The spleen provides the material basis for the acquired constitution, which is necessary for the function of kidney. The function of spleen is the result of the cooperation of spleen-Yin and spleen-Yang. Spleen-Yin is the Yin fluid that exists in spleen (which including blood, body fluid, refined materials in foodstuff, and so on) and material morphology and nourishing function of spleen. Spleen-Yin is the internal foundation of spleen function, only when it is nourishing, can body fluid and blood sufficient, entrails and organism gain nourished. When spleen-Yin is insufficient or impairment, it not only makes spleen itself produce yin asthenia syndrome, but also induces the other entrails...
