Experimental Study Of Maxillary Suture Expansion

The raidface hypoplasia is a common abnormality in oral maxillofacial region. The traditional treatment is deficient , so can not be satisfied. It can be sure that the whole skeleton of midface advancement is the unique effective method to cure the midface hypoplasia, because of toroidal and maxillary sinus. To prove the feasibility of a new technique of the whole skeleton of midface advancement for midface hypoplasia repair, to know the process of tissue response and regeneration in the circum-maxillary sutures under tensile forces, and to evaluate the effects of suture expansion on the growth and development of maxilla, we fixed a distraction device on 8 mongrel dogs , and draw the maxilla by a forward elastic force.MethodTwelve 15 week mongrel dogs were randomly assigned into four groups:the one week experimental group(n=4), the one week control(n=2), the four weeks experimental group(n=4)and the four weeks control (n=2).
